Marrying the CEO's Brother

My best friend and I married a pair of billionaire brothers.

She married the CEO big shot, Ethan Black. I married his "special needs" younger brother, Evan Black.

After the wedding, Ethan worked alone to support the entire household. The three of us got $450,000 in monthly allowances, free to shop and eat to our hearts' content.

That is, until his first love was about to return to the country.

My best friend rushed to ask me, "I'm getting a divorce. Are you?"

I nodded immediately. "Sisters married together, divorce together!"

So when Ethan left to pick up his first love, we left together.

Except we didn't expect Evan to suddenly run out after us, crying as he chased us for over a mile.

"...Should we take him with us?"

"Sure, why not."

In the end, we took him along and moved out three large moving trucks full of expensive goods.

A few days later, Ethan came back.

But in the huge manor, aside from divorce papers, there was nothing.

He lost it.

1

After my best friend Sophia Summers married Ethan Black, I went to their place every single day.

After going back and forth for a while, I got tired of the commute.

For convenience, I decided to marry Ethan's younger brother, Evan Black.

Rumor had it that Evan had damaged his brain as a child and was mentally challenged.

But I'd seen him a few times, and he just seemed slow to react—most of the time he was just lost in his own world, not interested in interacting with people.

That suited me perfectly.

Besides, taking a step back—if I could marry into the same family as my best friend, what was a little marital hardship?

But surprisingly, married life turned out to be absolutely wonderful.

Ethan truly was a CEO powerhouse—he worked alone to support the whole family, giving each of us three $150,000 monthly allowances, and we could ask for more if we needed it.

Evan's share naturally went under my management.

So Sophia and I took our combined $450,000 monthly fortune and spent our days shopping and eating to our hearts' content.

We couldn't spend it all. There was just no way to spend it all!

It had been raining heavily lately, so Sophia and I were stuck at home watching boy bands dance while gossiping about other people.

We heard that Mrs. Lin discovered Mr. Lin's mistress on the side... oh wait, these days they call them "lovers."

Because of this lover, Mrs. Lin demanded a divorce, but Mr. Lin refused no matter what.

So Mrs. Lin brought home a male companion of her own.

Now the four of them were living their lives better than ever.

"Haha, and also, I heard from my sister about one of her coworker's brother-in-law, recently..."

The two of us huddled together chattering non-stop until our mouths went dry.

"Evan!" I turned my head and called out.

Evan, sitting in the corner, froze for a moment before tilting his head toward me.

Seeing that he'd heard me, I spoke again. "Honey, can you get me a bottle of water from the fridge?"

He blinked, his ears turning slightly red as he walked somewhat clumsily into the kitchen.

Soon, he brought out my favorite herbal tea.

"Cold. Warm," he said.

He meant it was cold today, so this would warm me up.

Watching me take a sip, he smiled with satisfaction and walked away, returning to his corner to prop his head up and space out.

Sophia shook her head. "If Ethan knew you were bossing his precious baby brother around at home all day, he'd lose his mind."

"Not at all—I'm trying to pull him out of his own world."

Evan used to stay in his room spacing out all day, never seeing people or sunlight.

After marrying me, because I was always asking him to do things, he started spacing out near us instead.

Dazed and adorable.

In just this short time, the gossip group chat had accumulated 99+ new messages.

This was definitely juicy stuff.

I eagerly scrolled up to catch up.

After reading it, my heart went cold.

Oh no.

The gossip had hit too close to home.

2

Ethan's first love was about to return after finishing her studies abroad to inherit the family business.

The two of them were both powerful—a perfect power couple.

Everyone was digging up their old romantic moments, shipping them like crazy.

They didn't give Sophia a second thought.

Damn it!

I rolled up my sleeves, ready to go to war with them.

Sophia grabbed my phone and tossed it aside.

"Why bother with them?" She looked completely indifferent. "Men are replaceable. It's not a big deal."

My heart ached.

If only she really didn't care like she pretended.

She'd fallen for Ethan long ago.

But back then, Ethan had a girlfriend—this childhood sweetheart first love everyone was talking about. They'd been deeply in love.

Later, his first love went abroad to study and broke up with him.

Ethan never dated anyone again.

Until Sophia's family needed to arrange a marriage alliance with the Black family.

Sophia seized the opportunity.

But over the past two years of marriage, she'd never been able to warm his heart.

Aside from being generous with money, Ethan had always been cold to Sophia, spending most of his time at the company.

When they first got married, Sophia's eyes had lost all their light.

I couldn't help but suggest she just get divorced.

But she refused to give up. She was stubborn as hell.

"I just love it when he ignores me like this."

"If he actually fell for me, I'd probably get bored of him real quick."

There was nothing I could do, so I ended up marrying into the family myself.

Spending most of her energy with me every day, she gradually became happy again.

But now, in this situation, I was afraid there was nothing I could do.

"Rather than get dumped, better to make the first move." Sophia took a deep breath and made up her mind. "I'm getting a divorce. Are you?"

I nodded without hesitation. "If you're divorcing, I'm divorcing."

Our eyes met in the air, then we looked at Evan, who was still spacing out.

After a moment, probably sensing my gaze, he turned to look at me, his eyes questioning.

Usually he was in a state of blocking everything out—only when I actively called out to him would he emerge from his own world.

Sophia sighed with a hint of guilt. "Poor kid. I'm really going to miss him."

I pressed my lips together. Even though Evan was great, and spending a lifetime with him like this wouldn't be bad, the prerequisite was that Sophia and his brother had a stable relationship.

So I couldn't be blamed.

How could any man compare to your best friend?

I gripped Sophia's hand firmly. "Sisters married together, divorce together!"

Sophia looked touched.

Suddenly, Ethan's voice came from behind us.

"What are you two talking about?"

3

We both jumped, turning around in unison.

Thankfully the rain outside was loud.

We'd been speaking quietly—he shouldn't have heard anything.

Ethan wore the same expressionless face as always, but today he was soaked from the rain, looking rather disheveled.

"Brother," Evan said joyfully, running forward.

Ethan stepped back slightly, creating some distance between them. "I'm all wet. Don't touch me."

When it came to his precious baby brother, Ethan's expression softened—even his rejection seemed gentle.

Only then did Evan notice something was wrong, his brow furrowing. "Change clothes."

Then he pattered off to the kitchen.

"I'll make ginger tea for brother."

Once Evan left, Ethan's expression immediately went cold again.

"I'm heading upstairs."

Halfway up the stairs, noticing Sophia hadn't followed, he frowned and reminded her, "It's getting late."

I understood what he meant.

Today was Saturday—the day for marital duties.

Though Ethan was cold, he fulfilled his marital obligations dutifully.

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday—like clockwork.

I looked at Sophia. She swallowed hard without any backbone, her face saying, "Might as well enjoy the perks while I can."

I rolled my eyes in disdain.

"Can't help it—where am I supposed to find such premium goods after the divorce?" she whispered in my ear. "Emma, your hormones are already out of whack. Stop holding back and get some action!"

With that, she bounded up the stairs three steps at a time.

Damn it, where's my sword!

Poor Evan was still in the kitchen brewing ginger tea for his dear brother.

I cursed under my breath as I rushed into the kitchen and dragged Evan away.

"Baby, are we going to bed this early today?"

Looking into Evan's clear eyes, I silently shed tears inside.

Oh god, I felt so guilty.

"Yeah, going to bed early is good for your health."

He stopped talking, hugging my arm, and soon fell into a sweet sleep.

I stared at the ceiling with my eyes open.

After a long while, I silently turned over and quietly opened my reading app.

4

The next day, Sophia looked radiant and glowing.

I looked resentful.

"Are we still leaving?"

She hesitated. "How about this—when his first love comes back, I'll call him. If he lies to me or hides it from me, we'll leave."

I had no objection. "Fine, let's give him one more chance."

But unfortunately, on the day his first love returned, Ethan suddenly said he had a business trip.

Yet someone in the group chat had secretly photographed him having an intimate dinner with his first love.

So the business trip was fake—the date was real.

I was furious.

I called him, wanting to give him a piece of my mind.

I called five times, and every single one went unanswered.

Sophia's face went pale. She'd completely given up.

[You bastard. Divorce!]

After sending the message, Sophia pulled me along in a frenzy to pack our bags.

"We're leaving today!"

We were really doing this!

Half an hour later, we got in the car and drove off.

Sophia rolled down the window, letting the breeze mess up her bangs, her expression neither sad nor happy as she began her performance.

"Do I look like one of those tragic female leads from TV dramas?"

My heart ached for her as I pressed harder on the gas pedal.

"Oh my god," Sophia suddenly exclaimed. "Emma, stop the car!"

Thinking she was having second thoughts, I didn't do as she asked.

"Stop the car! Evan's chasing us from behind!"

What?

I slammed on the brakes and immediately turned around.

Evan had somehow started following us, shouting and crying as he ran.

This man who never left the house had chased us for over a mile.

"That's it. I can't take seeing him like this."

Sophia burst into tears of emotion.

My heart was breaking too.

"Should we take him with us?"

"Sure, why not."

I quickly got out of the car.

Evan ran over and threw himself into my arms, crying pitifully.

"Boo-hoo, baby, don't leave me behind!"

Tears immediately streamed down my face as I choked up trying to comfort him.

After he'd calmed down a bit, I gently explained, "Your brother betrayed Sophia. He's going to bring a new sister-in-law home, so we have to leave."

He processed this for a moment, then said between sobs, "Brother... brother is bad. Make... make him leave."

"So you'll live with us from now on?"

He nodded.

Afraid I'd run away, he clutched tightly at my clothes.

Old John the butler, who had just caught up, nearly had a breakdown hearing this.

Seeing him, Evan hid behind me and declared, "I'm going with baby!"

The butler looked like the sky was falling as he trembled and said, "Ladies, could this all be some misunderstanding?"

Sophia and I remained unmoved, both huffing in unison.

Evan paused, then huffed along with us.

Old John: "..."

Old John broke down. Old John gave in.

In the end, he went back cursing and helped us load three more moving trucks full of expensive goods.

As we were leaving, Old John was in tears.

"Why don't you take me too?"

No thanks, I politely declined.

"You need to stay and explain the truth."

Otherwise, with everyone gone and the house emptied out, I was afraid Ethan would just call the police when he got back.

5

After moving out, Sophia stewed for a few days before starting to curse daily.

"That bastard must be living it up with his first love like he's on cloud nine, right? Too busy to even spare time to divorce me?"

I had to be honest about this.

I shrank into the corner and said carefully, "Don't you remember? You blocked all his contact information."

"Then doesn't he know how to contact you guys?"

"You set my phone to block him too," I said in a voice barely above a whisper. "Even Evan's smartwatch wasn't spared."

Sophia choked. "If he really wanted to find me, wouldn't he think of a way?"

I sat up straight. "I think you're absolutely right."

After Sophia's sister learned about our situation, she generously reserved two premium male escorts for us at her bar.

She said, "There's nothing a male escort can't fix. If one isn't enough, get two."

That made so much sense I could cry.

Sophia was so moved that tears flowed from the corners of her mouth.

That night, after Evan fell asleep, Sophia and I sneaked out.

When we got to the bar, we unexpectedly spotted Ethan's first love.

Hailey Vanderbilt was in a sexy black minidress, grinding in a close dance with a male model dressed as a servant.

"Well, she's certainly having fun."

Sophia and I said in unison.

"Wait." Sophia caught on. "So Ethan's being cheated on?"

I looked at her and nodded emphatically. "Yes, and he's getting not one but two whole meadows' worth of green grass. Lucky him."

Hearing this, Sophia laughed wickedly.

Days of bad mood instantly evaporated.

Her lips curved up, her expression pleased. "So, do you want to...?"

I quickly shook my head in refusal.

"No way. I'm afraid Evan would cry if he found out."

My main mission tonight was to watch over her.

If she got drunk, I'd have to carry her home.

Sophia's smile vanished.

She said through gritted teeth, "Call them both in!"

I sat in a corner and ordered a low-alcohol fruit wine, watching Sophia get embraced on both sides, being sweet-talked into drinking glass after glass.

Bored, I pulled out my phone and started playing Candy Crush.

Just as I was getting into it, the room suddenly went quiet.

I looked up in confusion.

Ethan had appeared from nowhere, his face dark enough to drip water.

Evan stood beside him, lips pressed tight, looking at me with accusation in his eyes.

Oh crap. We were screwed.

6

Sophia wasn't intimidated at all.

She leaned back slightly, crossed her legs, and looked arrogant.

"Well, well, if it isn't my ex-husband."

Seeing Sophia's attitude, the male models, who'd been looking panicked, suddenly gained confidence.

They all started swaying their hips, pressing coyly into Sophia's embrace.

Ethan's expression turned absolutely terrible, his fists clenching and unclenching at his sides.

Finally, he couldn't take it anymore.

He growled, "Get out!"

The models jumped in fright.

They lost their nerve.

They scrambled out of the room.

A few seconds later, the manager walked in with a smile, pulling out a bill.

Six bottles of wine: $105,000.

"Miss Summers, the boss says the number is lucky—no discounts."

My eyes went wide in shock.

Sophia immediately sat up straight, completely sober now.

"I knew she wouldn't suddenly be so generous! She was waiting for this moment!"

She looked deflated, tears of regret streaming down her face.

"I'm such a fool, really."

Ethan stepped forward with a dark expression and paid the bill.

Then he declared, "From this moment on, Sophia and Emma are banned from entering this establishment. Otherwise—watch your business go under."

"Yes, sir. I'll inform the boss immediately. Have a pleasant evening~"

The manager left with a smile, closing the door behind him.

The atmosphere in the room grew tense.

Ethan pressed his temples, controlling his tone. "Don't you owe me an explanation?"

Sophia stood up irritably. "What do I need to explain to you?"

Here we go—all accounts were about to be settled.

I quickly stood beside Sophia, showing my allegiance.

Ethan choked, saying incredulously, "You came here to hire male escorts, and you're acting self-righteous about it?"

"I already told you we're divorced. Why do you care if I hire male escorts or not?" Sophia smiled sweetly, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "At least I came here openly and honestly, unlike someone who used a business trip as an excuse to secretly date his first love. Ugh, what a disgusting scumbag!"

"I didn't lie to you. I really was on a business trip, and what first love? I didn't meet with anyone!"

Ethan looked confused, and as he spoke, he even sounded a bit wronged.

How dare he act wronged?

I pulled out my phone, first unblocking him, then forwarding him some screenshots from the group chat.

Ethan frowned as he quickly read through them.

"What is all this nonsense? A bunch of people with nothing better to do!"

Sophia looked at him with narrowed eyes. "Oh, someone's getting defensive."

"Hailey and I just had a meal to discuss business. There's nothing between us."

"Right, just a meal. You had a meal and then disappeared for several days."

"Something came up those few days. I didn't ghost you on purpose."

How conveniently vague.

Sophia rolled her eyes and picked at her ear. "Go ahead, keep making things up. I'm listening."

Ethan pressed his lips together, looking angry.

"That's all you've got?" Sophia sneered. "Well then, the courthouse will be open in a few hours. Perfect timing for us to file the paperwork."

"Absolutely not!"

"You don't get a choice."

Sophia was done talking and pulled me toward the exit.

But we'd barely taken a few steps when Ethan grabbed her and threw her over his shoulder.

"Ah... you bastard, put me down!"

I shouted angrily, blocking his path. "What do you think you're doing?"

"This is between my wife and me. Stay out of it."

"I'm taking her home, and I will prove my innocence."

"You should think about how to explain things to Evan. He didn't go out having dinner with some supposed first love."

7

I really had no words!

I'd literally just moved to a different spot to play Candy Crush! I didn't do anything!

Would anyone even believe that if I said it?

Evan looked at me pitifully, on the verge of tears.

"I woke up and you weren't there. I thought you'd left me again."

I froze, my heart feeling like it had been struck hard.

I was such a terrible person.

The kind who'd wake up in the middle of the night cursing herself.

I quickly hugged him, gently patting his back to comfort him. "Never, never. How could I bear to leave you?"

"Baby, I want to go home."

"Okay, okay, let's go home."

After this back-and-forth ordeal, he'd become extremely insecure.

The whole way home, he stared at me, holding my hand tightly, afraid that if he looked away for a second, I'd di
